JOB TITLE:
Branding Iron Assistant Features EditorJOB PURPOSE:
Manage the feature assignments for the Branding IronESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Work a minimum of 20 hours per week.
Verify and edit newspaper copy prior to composition.
Assist the editor supervise the work of newspaper section editors.
Assist the editor supervise the work of newspaper's copy editor.
Assist the editor supervise the work of the photo editor.
Assist the editor supervise the work of news staff writers.
Produce articles for both the print and online editions.
Assist the editor supervise staff payroll.
Dummy editorial, op-ed pages.
Serve as public relations person for the paper in the editor's absence.
Conduct staff meetings as necessary.
Attend Student Media Board meetings as ex-officio member in the editor's absence.
Serve as a direct line to adviser, sales manager, production coordinator, and business manager.
Assist the editor develop the newsroom budget.
Assist in preparing budget as needed.
Assist the editor superintend the operations of the newspaper production and deadline schedules.
Need to be involved in active recruitment for class visits.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be available to start work Aug.
21.
Must be able to attend mandatory trainings on Wednesday nights.
COMPETENCIES:
Some supervisory experience.
Basic knowledge of what goes into a good newspaper story, as well as other newspaper editorial content.
Some prior newspaper experience.
Knowledge of AP style or willingness to learn.
REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Full-time student Minimum 2.
5 GPA Newspaper experience, including writing news stories.
